Lucky Rice

Last week my work with City Harvest afforded me the opportunity to attend Lucky Rice’s Grand Feast at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel at the Time Warner Center in Manhattan. This food lovers paradise was hosted by Lisa Ling. With tastings from the finest Chefs’ in New York, I was happy to be a small part of this evening. With fantastic views of the Central Park, the participating restaurants shared their most interesting and delicious culinary inventions, as hundreds of hungry guests filled the ballroom.

Black Olive Rice in Kueh Pie Ti from Wild Rocket (Singapore)and Bibimbap from KumGangSan for the Korean Cultural Services.

Singapore Palm Sugar and Coconut-Lemon Soup being poured around a Mango-Thai Basil Gelée with Poached Pineapple from Daniel.

Beef Sirloin Tart with Curry from Chinatown Brasserie and Grilled Chicken Breast Rolls stuffed with Kaffir Lime Leaves, Cilantro, Lemongrass, and Gai Lan Stems from Indochine.

Le Bernardin’s Black Sesame Panna Cotta and Chefs for the Korean Cultural Service NY prepare Bibimbap.

Wednesday, May 12th is City Harvest’s Skip Lunch Fight Hunger day.

Photo Credit: I ran into former colleague Arthur Bovino who was covering this event for Always Hungry New York. These pictures and captions are compliments of them. For more beautiful Asian inspired food photography see their full story of the event here. Thank you!
